The 14th Factory LA was a monumental, multiple-media, socially engaged art installation conceived by the Hong Kong-based artist Simon Birch. Taking over three acres of an empty industrial warehouse and lot on the outskirts of downtown Los Angeles, the location as transformed into a factory where Birch and his 20 creative collaborator worked and manufactured their art, creating an ever-changing immersive environment of 14 interlinked space comprised of video, installation, sculpture, painting and performance.

”Knitting Conversations in Time” is an ongoing collaborative project since 2011, weaving people’s stories around the world. This connected piece that crosses time, place, people, cultures, languages, identities, history and memories, an on-site interactive installation & knitting workshop in the exhibition with local public visitors. Visitors invited to being part in the project to knitting together with other participants. Adding stories to the ongoing piece with the shredded paper from books related to the Thirteen Factories of Canton. The participants and the artist Movana Chen will be engaged in conversation while weaving within their hands in a dialogue of past, present and knitting a hope of future - where every individual and every culture is connected through the unique threads.
